| Ron Trembath is artistically engaged with
the world around him, observing, interpreting and recording what he
sees. He has been involved in fine art for many years and since retirement
from work as a graphic designer he has once again been drawn back
to painting as a means for personal expression and public enjoyment. Ron mainly paints on site. This technique allows him to observe the visual effects of momentary changes in the environment and its effect on the landscape. The artist absorbs the changes in light, colour and form as the wind blows clouds that cast shadows over the hills and water, changing the depth of colours and movement of grasses. The end result is paintings that are spontaneous and fresh. This exhibition will present another facet of Ron's talents, presenting a colourful array of scenes of our wonderful country, an escape from the restraints of commercialism. Ron has lived in Doncaster for over 30 years, raising a family of three children and contributing to the local community. He has exhibited in local Melbourne art shows winning a number of awards. |

WINNER BEST WORK IN SHOW |
||
The winning artists with their works. |
||
Judge Jane Scott had considerable difficulty in deciding the winner of Best Work in Show. It has ended in a tie. Two artists will share the prize money. MARGARET KETTELS and ECHO CHAI Both displayed consistent style, composition and technique in their work. Both display a distinctive style which is warm, fresh and clever. In particular, Echo Chai’s work AUTUMN is outstanding as is Margaret Kettel’s CITY VIEW. Both artists have shown us their flair and love of art.

| AMY SIMMONS PORCELAIN VASE, BOWL AND CUP
Fine translucent quality – great finish and careful use of minimal decorative element. |

WINNER WORKS ON PAPER |
||
| JO REITZE ARUM LILY
Barbara McManus has made the following comments about the winning artist. “The square concept has provided a challenge to this artist. The multi-directional foliage lays a foundation for the purity of the lilies and the small touches of red complete a complementary balance.” |
||
WINNERS WORKS ON CANVAS |
||
| TRUDI CANAVAN APPLELING COMPANY
Carol Boothman has made the following comments about the winning artist. Trudi’s painting exudes originality and charm. Approaching her subject in a contemporary fashion, her aerial viewpoint allows us to appreciate each piece of fruit separately, savouring the individuality of each apple. The use of yellow and lime green suggest the tart taste; the warmth of the bowl providing essential colour balance.” |
