Foothills Auxiliary Annual Fete

NEWS ARCHIVE
Saturday 13th September, 2003
The Annual Fete was enjoyed by all who came out to participate in the activities, peruse the stalls and eat. The stalls included a trash and treasure, books, toys, pre-loved clothes, plants, fresh produce, cakes and gifts. Special activites included the animal farm and fire engine from the C.F.B.B., which was very popular with the children, big and small. $9,000 was raised for Strathdon Community.

Detail: dolls made from lids.
Mrs Marj Silke has been making dolls for thirty years or more after she saw a pattern in the Australian Women's Weekly. They are made out of plastic tops and spray can lids threaded onto plastic string. She has found that they are always popular items at fetes with special requests for favourite colour combinations. Mrs Silke works on 22 at a time in a mini production line at home. Her other main hobby for enjoyment is gardening.
