Services

Strathdon Community provides quality aged care to the community through the provision of a number of residential and non-residential services including:

Residential Care:

Independent Living Units
  40 Units - Forest Hill
31 Units - Yernga Retirement Village, Mt Waverley.

Hostel Accommodation
Individual room accommodation for 108 residents in our two Hostels: Richard E McGarvie Hostel , formerly Hostel 19 (84 residents) and our dementia specific Jack Faichney Memorial Hostel (formerly Hostel 15) accommodates 24 residents.

Nursing Home
Accommodation for 60 residents with a further 30 beds added through the redevelopment program which are currently being used for Interim Care.

Community Services Program:

  Community Aged Care Packages
Funded by the Commonwealth to provide ‘hostel’ type care in the home for 70 people living in the local community as an alternative to residential service. This has been an exciting opportunity for Strathdon to extend its care services and use its resources to provide support more widely throughout the region.

Helen Macpherson Smith Trust Day Therapy Centre
Day Therapy services providing assistance and support in rehabilitation and dealing with specific health related conditions.

  Mingara Day Activity Centre
Strathdon’s day respite centre for people with Alzheimer's & Dementia.

The Socialisation Group provides an informal program of activities to meet the social and lifestyle needs of the participants in a relaxed and supported setting.

The Parkinson's Group is conducted by Strathdon's Day Therapy Centre as a special program for people living in the community.  Strathdon runs both Men's and Women's Parkinson groups, usually accommodating six to eight members at a time, over an eight week period.

There can be no doubt that one of the most important factors underpinning the strength of Strathdon Community is the level of commitment and involvement from local residents, supporters, staff and volunteers and we look forward to this continued interest and support so that we may be able to provided the highest quality and relevant services to older people in our community.
