On September 28, in front of 400 people, Sir Arvi Parbo officially opened Stage 1 of the Redevelopment of Strathdon Community and celebrated its million dollar milestone. The two new wings of the Nursing Home, and the 8 new Independent Living Units were hailed as magnificent. Residents from Strathdon Hostel (19) are now very well accommodated in these new premises whilst the old Strathdon Hostel (19) is being demolished and rebuilt as part of Stage 2 of the Redevelopment. |

| The Community Centre
will also be constructed during Stage 2, and is due for completion
by the end of 2002. The Centre will offer a variety of meeting
and multi-purpose rooms, Internet Café, Chapel, Library, as well as
family and community interaction areas. Our community partners, the University of the Third Age, Life Activities Whitehorse, Probus, and youth and recreational groups, are excited by the prospect of holding their activities in the Centre early in 2003. |
