| Aims and Objectives: | ||||
| to improve mobility, balance and strength; | ||||
| to minimize contractures of the affected limbs; | ||||
| to maintain or improve independence in daily activites; | ||||
| to monitor walking and the use of aids; | ||||
| to promote a sense of well being; | ||||
| to identify any risk of falling; | ||||
| to implement fall prevention strategies. | ||||

| Format | ||||
| Two
groups with a maximum of 6 clients in each group are conducted weekly
on Friday morning and afternoon. |
||||
| Morning Group 10.00 to 10.30 am: Group Exercise 10.30 to 11.30 am : Circuit Exercises |
||||
| Afternoon Group 1.00 to 1.30 pm: Group Exercise 1.30 to 2.30 pm: Circuit Exercises |

| Who Can Attend? | ||||
| People who: | ||||
| have on-going problems resulting from stroke and have completed intensive rehabilitation; | ||||
| are referred to Strathdon Day Therapy Centre by their doctor, or may self refer after discussion with their doctor; | ||||
| are assessed by our therapist as being suitable to join the group; | ||||
| are able to transfer and walk 20 metres with walking aids. | ||||
| Cost | ||||
| The cost is
$8.00 per session. It is expected that members of the group will attend all ten sessions, to gain a maximum effectiveness of staff and client's time. |
