Strathdon
Community offers couples and singles who are capable of looking
after themselves 40 Independent Living Units (8 two-bedroom
units and 32 single bedroom units) at its Jolimont Road site
in Forest Hill.
Independent
Living Unit
At
the Forest Hill Campus unit residents have access to a variety
of programs and facilities including;
An
entry contribution to the units is charged. This sum is held
in trust for the resident during their stay in the unit.
On leaving, the entry contribution will be refunded minus an
amount retained by Strathdon Community. A daily fee is charged
covering maintenance of the unit, the emergency call system,
grounds maintenance and limited contents insurance. Residents
pay their own electricity and telephone accounts including connection
fees.
Yernga
Retirement Village
Mt
Waverley Campus
Yernga
Retirement Village, established by the High Street Road Congregation,
is situated at 32 - 42 Larch Crescent, Mt. Waverley.
Yernga meaning 'looking forward' was initiated by the
Rev Bill Crewin who was then Minister of the High Street Road
Joint Parish.
Yernga Retirement Village
Yernga
offers independent living units for couples and single people
who are able to care for themselves but who choose not to remain
in their family home. The Village is now part of Strathdon
Community and consists of 31 units, 9 of which are two
bedroom, set in established gardens.
Units
at Yernga are similar in design to those at the Forest Hill
campus and each unit is fitted to an emergency call system.
Strathdon pays the initial installation of the call system with
the quarterly monitoring fee being the resident's responsibility.
Unit
residents have a small garden area for which they are responsible.
Strathdon maintains all communal areas.

the Mt Waverley campus residents have access to:

Carpet Bowls
Luncheons
Residents
also have access to shopping trips to the Forest Hill Shopping
Centre and monthly organised bus trips.
Fees
An
entry contribution to the units is charged. This sum is held
in trust for the resident during their stay in the unit.

Contents insurance
Water rates
Communal area
maintenance
Council rates
Initial emergency
call system installation
Residents
are responsible for the costs of:
Electricity,
including hot water and heating costs
Telephone accounts
and connection fee
Own individual
garden maintenance
Quarterly monitoring
fee for the emergency call system
Any structural
alterations or additions to the unit. These must
receive prior approval from Strathdon's Maintenance Department
and remain the property of Strathdon when the unit is
vacated.
General
Residents
are eligible to apply for assessment from their City Council
for domicilliary services. If a resident needs more support
they may be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Service, based
at the Peter James Centre, for a Community
Aged Care Package.
